WPC Theme

The WPC rounds will be themed on different episodes and characters from the epic Ramayana. This great epic, attributed to sage Valmiki, narrates the life and journey of Prince Rama of Ayodhya. The epic details his exile, his unwavering adherence to duty, and his epic quest to rescue his beloved wife, Sita, who was abducted by Ravana, the demon king of Lanka. It is a tale rich with themes of ideal relationships, sacrifice and the ultimate victory of good over evil.

Episodes

This episode narrates the lineage of the Raghu clan, detailing the lives of King Dilipa, Raghu, Aja, and Dasharatha, culminating in the birth of Rama and his brothers.

The episode describes the princes’ education, the arrival of Vishwamitra requesting Rama’s help, Rama and Lakshmana’s journey with the sage, and their successful slaying of the demons Tataka, Maricha, and Subahu to protect Vishwamitra’s sacrifice.

This episode details how Prince Rama wins Princess Sita’s hand in marriage at her Swayamvara by stringing and breaking Shiva’s bow, leading to the simultaneous marriage of his three brothers to Sita’s sister and cousins.

This episode details King Dasharatha’s dilemma when Queen Kaikeyi demands Rama’s exile and Bharata’s coronation, driven by Manthara.

This episode details Rama, Sita, and Laxman’s departure from Ayodhya into the forest, leaving the kingdom in despair, and their journey with the help of Guha and Kevat, eventually settling in Chitrakoot with Sage Bharadwaja.
