World Puzzle Federation

The World Puzzle Federation (WPF) is an international organisation dedicated to puzzles. It follows the Olympic standard and brings together puzzle solvers from around the world for the annual World Puzzle Championship (WPC) and World Sudoku Championship (WSC).

Goals of the WPF

Provide the means for an international exchange of puzzle ideas.

Stimulate innovations in the field of puzzles.

Supervise the annual World Puzzle Championship (WPC), World Sudoku Championship (WSC) and other puzzle activities.

Foster friendship among puzzle enthusiasts worldwide.

World Puzzle Championship

Since 1992 the World Puzzle Federation has supervised a yearly World Puzzle Championship (WPC). The first was held in New York; the most recent took place in Eger, Hungary in 2025. The 33rd WPC will be held in Kolkata in 2026. Each national team consists of four members. Every country organises its own national championship to select the four solvers who will represent it.

World Sudoku Championship

In 2006 the World Puzzle Federation began supervising a yearly World Sudoku Championship (WSC). The first WSC took place in March 2006 in Lucca, Italy. The most recent took place in Eger, Hungary in 2025, and the 19th WSC will take place in Kolkata in 2026. Each national team consists of three or four members, with every country organising its own national championship to select the solvers who will represent it.
