The WSC rounds will be themed from various characters and key events from the epic Mahabharata. This great epic, attributed to sage Vyasa, centers on the dynastic struggle for the throne of Hastinapura and culminating in the Kurukshetra war between two sets of princely cousins, the five righteous Pandavas and their one hundred often ambitious and envious cousins, the Kauravas.
The episode traces the origins of the Kuru clan from King Shantanu, through the sacrifice of Bheeshma and the untimely deaths of his successors, leading to the birth of Dhritarashtra, Pandu, and Vidhur.
The episode describes the training of Dhritarashtra, Pandu, and Vidhur, the subsequent crowning of Pandu as King due to Dhritarashtra’s blindness, and Dhritarashtra’s marriage to Gandhari, who blindfolded herself in solidarity with him.
