The actual Mahabharat/Kurukshetra war lasted 18 days, so there could be 18 rounds in total... Where each round is themed on each day of the war?

Or maybe each round to be named on the greatest/fiercest Yodhdha on that day?

Nice thought. The original theme document contained 18 rounds. But we had to prune a few rounds to fit within the 2-day schedule for the WSC.

We cover a larger time period than the 18 day Mahabharata war, starting from the ancestry of the Pandavas and the Kauravas, the circumstances which led to the war, and till the end of the war. But, yes, many of the rounds are themed around the great Yodhdha's (warriors) from the Mahabharata.

I believe the same goes for WSC as well that the 18 videos are a teaser for the round themes and/or names.

Yes that is correct, each video is the inspiration for one round.

Received this in my inbox from Braahmi Shetty sharing her thoughts on relationship between Mahabharata theme and the Sudoku rounds:
"1. As in the Mahabharata, there was unity among the five brothers " THE PANDAVAS ".The hundred brothers " THE KAURAVAS " were also united. Like that only, the sudoku rounds also have a relay race which shows unity and teamwork among their teams.
2. In the Mahabharata, Krishna was there to help and show the right path to Pandavas but didn't fight the war for them like that only in sudokus there are some hints which make the sudoku more easier but the hints do not directly show the answer but they show the right path to the answer. "

My reply to her email:
"It's a very interesting take on the relationships between the Mahabharata theme and the rounds at the WSC.
We actually do have a unity-related theme for the 5 Pandavas, but the format of the round is slightly different. We have a round for the 'hundred' Kauravas too, but the theme is slightly different.
For the ideas related to Krishna, we have used a similar theme for a different character from the Mahabharata."

Possibly, some rounds will be inspired by iconic Mahabharata characters or events such as Pandavas, Kauravas, Abhimanyu, Arjuna, Bhishma, or The Dice Game. Since WSC features both individual and team formats, the themes could influence the round mechanics themselves: the Pandavas might inspire a collaborative or relay-style round, the Kauravas a large-scale challenge, while Abhimanyu, Arjuna, Bhishma and The Dice Game, could reflect layered strategy, precision, endurance and decision-making.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Harmeet ... do have alook at the theme videos ... each video approximately corresponds to one round of the WSC .... it might give you additional insights into the theme for each round.

The immediate thought to my mind is of Chakravyuh. A sudoku with spiral shaped clues which can be worked onlyl from the outer to clues and end up solving into the center. Not possible to start from the middle of the grid. Very difficult puzzle to break in :)
